15GW! Southeast Asia’s largest photovoltaic industrial park officially launched

May 15, 2024

On May 15, SEG Solar ('SEG'), a leading U.S. photovoltaic module manufacturer, signed a land agreement with Indonesia's largest state-owned enterprise industrial park Kawasan Industry Terpadu Batang (Grand Batang City), announcing the official delivery of land for SEG Indonesia's photovoltaic industrial park. This marks the official start of construction of the project.

The park also houses silicon ingots, silicon wafers, cells and component workshops. Once completed, it will become the largest photovoltaic industrial park in Southeast Asia. Zhuge Jun, founder and chief operating officer of SEG, and Ngurah Wirawan, chairman of Grand Batang City, attended the ceremony.

The SEG Indonesia Photovoltaic Industrial Park project is located in the Grand Batang City Industrial Park in Central Java Province, Indonesia. The total investment exceeds US$500 million and covers an area of over 40 hectares. The park's master plan is to have a vertically integrated production capacity of 5GW of silicon wafers, 5GW of cells, and 5GW of components. The first phase of the project will build 5GW of cell and 3GW module production capacity and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.

As an important part of SEG's global manufacturing layout, the cells produced in the park will be used in SEG's global component factories to ensure the traceability of the supply chain, ensure the reliability and stability of the supply of component core materials, and improve the SEG supply chain. construction.

"The integrated layout of the entire industry chain is the key to SEG's implementation of green supply chain standards. Through upstream and downstream collaboration, SEG can ensure the provision of clean, traceable green products for the US, European and Indonesian markets, and assist the green and low-carbon transformation of global energy." , said Zhuge Jun, founder and chief operating officer of SEG.

While accelerating industrialization layout, SEG Indonesia Photovoltaic Industrial Park is expected to add more than 3,000 jobs, providing more employment opportunities and economic vitality for local communities.
