How does on grid solar system working?
Solar panels absorb photons from sunlight and start to generating electricity. As these photons get absorbed by solar panel, it lead to a free flow of electrons. This aggressive vibration of electrons generates electric Direct Current (DC).
This direct current enters the inverter. Here, it gets converted into Alternating Current (AC) which is usable by appliances.
Once the requirements of all appliances are fulfilled, the remaining energy is transferred to the utility grid. In a on grid solar system, the utility grid acts as a battery where all excess energy is fed. This is termed as banking of energy.
At night, in the absence of solar energy, loads import the banked energy from the grid. Similarly, in case of less power generation on a cloudy day, the grid will supply the required energy to the loads. Toward the end of the month, a bidirectional meter calculates the bill considering the export and import of energy.
